“When we decided to bring anti-bullying programs to Armenia, based on Swedish practices, we were told that bullying wasn’t an issue here. Unfortunately, it is—and it’s quite prevalent, especially among school students,” shared Irina Alewert, the founder and director of the Global to Local NGO, in an interview with Ampop Media.
While the term “bullying” isn’t widely used in Armenia yet, the problem itself is common in schools across the country. We often describe it with other words—like violence, pressure, or mockery—but it’s essential to distinguish bullying as it seriously impacts children’s mental health and educational experience.
